UFC’s Middleweight Champion Sean Strickland has posted another statement promising to “duck and weave” in fights if UFC forces him to follow through with the rest of this contract.
In a video he posted on Instagram, Strickland makes it clear he wants to leave UFC behind and begin a career as a boxer.
“I Have fought half the division already, man. I want to box. I want to go put a f—–g boxing title in my mantle. I just want to box. I will put hands on any boxer. Jake Paul wants to give me a big old bag of money to fight him,” he said claiming he would be happy to go to Zuffa, TKO’s boxing venture and fight there.
He then criticized UFC and how he believes fighters are treated.
“Let me tell you something about the UFC. I’m going to say the quiet part out loud that nobody says. You watch these champions, right? These savages of the sport, man. They run the division and they take an L, and then they come back and they just like, man, they just fight like three or four times. They get f——g flatlined. You’re like, dude. What happened to you? And you realize the UFC happened to them,” he began.
He then accused the company of not caring about their fighters any longer.
“The UFC they don’t pay you enough money to walk away. Like, man, life is f—–g good. I’ve dedicated my life to this. I put the time in this. The UFC builds a legacy. They keep you right here, but they build a legacy and they don’t pay you enough. So you have to come back and ruin your legacy,” he said.
He expressed his intention once again to start a boxing career and leave UFC behind. He also made a promise to embarrass the company if they force him to continue fighting.
“I am not into it anymore. I want to fight. I want to box. I want to go win a boxing title. So we’re trying to work that out but if the UFC says, “Hey, we’re not going to do that. We’re going to make you fight. Well, I’m going to stick and move. You guys are going to boo like hell. I’ll f—–g boo with you while I’m doing it. Just stick and move, collect my check and then move on,” he said.
