WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin might be returning to WWE in the very near future.
One of WWE’s most iconic names could be edging closer to another television appearance. According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, internal discussions have taken place regarding “Stone Cold” Steve Austin appearing for WWE in the near future. While nothing has been finalised, Austin’s name is said to be “circulating across multiple departments,” though no specific role or format has been identified, and it remains unclear whether any appearance would be a one-off.
The timing is notable, with WWE heading into its busiest stretch of the year. The Royal Rumble takes place later this month, followed by WrestleMania 42 in April from Las Vegas. Austin has strong ties to Nevada and made a brief appearance at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas last year, where he announced the Night Two attendance figure.
Late in 2024, Austin underwent knee replacement surgery, a procedure he has since said brought him significant relief. While he believes he is physically capable of wrestling again, the 61-year-old downplayed the likelihood during a recent interview with Insight with Chris Van Vliet.
“Probably not,” Austin said when asked about having one more match. “I’ll say that, but you say never say never.”
When Did Steve Austin Last Wrestle In WWE?
SteveAustin last competed in the ring at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, where he defeated Kevin Owens, marking his first match in nearly two decades, as his last match prior to WrestleMania 38 took place at WrestleMania 19 on March 30, 2003, where Austin lost to The Rock and retired from the ring.
Austin appeared sporadically for the company for 19 years, with many believing he’d never compete in a match ever again.
