The son of WWE & TNA Hall of Famer Sting, Steven Borden, made his AEW Dynamite in-ring debut last night.
AEW’s Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite featured a notable moment before the live broadcast even began, as Steven Borden, son of wrestling icon Sting, competed in a dark match ahead of the show.
According to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, Borden faced Kiran Grey in the second dark match of the evening at The Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia. Borden picked up the victory, making an early impression in front of the live AEW crowd.
Borden made his entrance to Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”, adding a dramatic touch to his first AEW appearance and drawing a strong reaction from those in attendance. AEW has not commented on whether this signals anything regarding Borden’s long-term future with the company, but the outing marked a significant step as he followed his father into an AEW ring.
When Did Sting Retire From Wrestling?
Sting officially retired from in-ring competition in March 2024, wrestling his final match at AEW Revolution. Teaming with Darby Allin, he defeated The Young Bucks in a chaotic tornado tag to close out a career spanning nearly four decades.
After debuting in 1985 and becoming one of wrestling’s most enduring stars, Sting stepped away on his own terms with a celebrated farewell, ending his run as one of the industry’s most iconic performers.
