Steve Austin his status for WWE WrestleMania 42.
In February, WWE confirmed that Steve Austin will be part of the WWE World fan experience running during WrestleMania week from April 16th-20th. However, his status for the actual event hasn’t been confirmed.
In a new interview on Busted Open Radio, the Texas Rattlesnake addressed a potential appearance at the Showcase of the Immortals. While he’s open to doing something at the show, Austin says he doesn’t want to take the spotlight away from the current talent.
“It’s funny because you’ll sit there or they’ll put something on [Instagram] and people will say, ‘Oh, no, no. Man, he’s too old. Let the current talent have the spotlight.’ Let the current talent have the spotlight, of course. If I can go out there and do something, that’d be fine,”
Austin then joked about his infamous appearance at WrestleMania 41, when he crashed his ATV into a ringside barricade, knocking over a fan.
“But God damn, when I crashed that four-wheeler last year up there against that wall, man, you talk about sh***ing the bed big time. I was so pissed off about that. Because I was looking forward to going out there and announcing the attendance and then watching the show, seeing what kind of show the superstars were going to put on. And, man, I sh*t the bed on the big stage.
After that incident, Austin says he’ll have to see if WWE will even have him back for WrestleMania.
“We’ll see if they have me back. If they do, that’s cool. I always say — they got a pretty good roster, you know? So I think those guys and gals, they need all the time.”
Steve Austin Rules Out 3:16 Day Raw Appearance
While he’s open to making an appearance at WrestleMania 42, Steve Austin will not be seen on the 3:16 Day edition of WWE Raw. Instead, the Bionic Redneck says he will be focusing on his current career as he prepares to take part in a 250-mile off-road UTV race in Nevada.
