The wrestling world is mourning the loss of the son of WWE Hall of Famer Paul Bearer, Daniel Moody.
Daniel Moody, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Paul Bearer, died this week, with the news announced on March 24 by Steve Stasiak of Book Pro Wrestlers. No cause of death has been confirmed. Daniel, who competed on the independent scene as DJ Pringle, was the last surviving member of the immediate Moody family. His father, William Moody, best known to fans as Paul Bearer and Percy Pringle III, passed away on March 5, 2013. His mother, Dianna, died in 2009 following complications from breast cancer, while his brother, Michael, died in 2014 at the age of 34.
Bearer remains one of the most iconic managers in wrestling history, widely recognised for his work alongside The Undertaker and Kane in WWE. His distinctive voice, eerie presentation, and trademark urn made him a defining presence during the company’s most prominent eras. Prior to joining WWE in 1990, he also managed top stars, including Steve Austin, Rick Rude, Lex Luger, and The Ultimate Warrior, as Percy Pringle III across several territories.
Daniel followed in his father’s footsteps, working across Gulf Coast independent promotions under the DJ Pringle name. In a past blog post, Paul Bearer noted that he occasionally accompanied his son at ringside, writing:
“He wrestles on the Gulf Coast independent scene as DJ Pringle, and I have the honour of being in his corner now and then.”
Daniel & Michael Moody Accepted Paul Bearer’s WWE Hall Of Fame Induction
In 2014, Daniel and his brother Michael accepted Paul Bearer’s WWE Hall of Fame induction, with The Undertaker appearing in character to pay tribute. The family also approved WWE’s use of Bearer’s legacy in storyline segments following his passing. Paying tribute, Stasiak reflected on the family behind the on-screen persona.
“His father, Paul Bearer, wasn’t just a character on TV. He was part of the fabric of this business. One of those voices and presences you don’t forget. But behind all of that was a family. A son. A real life that existed far beyond what we saw on screen.”
