Sheamus is reportedly under contract with WWE until October, despite earlier reports suggesting he would become a free agent much sooner.
It was reported earlier this month that the former WWE Champion was expected to leave the company when his contract expired, with it believed at the time that his deal was nearing its end. However, a new report from Fightful Select states that Sheamus’ current WWE contract is now set to expire on October 1, 2026.
According to the report, it is unclear why the contract expiration date is later than previously believed, with no confirmation of whether additional time was added to the agreement or whether there was a misunderstanding regarding the original end date.
The report also claims that WWE approached Sheamus earlier this year about signing a restructured contract, but the veteran reportedly “swiftly rejected” the proposal. Fightful noted, however, that the offer was not presented as an ultimatum, unlike some other contract discussions the company has held with talent.
Sheamus’ 20-Year Career With WWE
Sheamus signed with WWE in 2006 and made his main roster debut in 2009, quickly establishing himself as one of the company’s top stars. During his career, he has captured the WWE Championship three times, the World Heavyweight Championship once, and has also held the United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Championships, as well as winning the 2010 King of the Ring tournament and the 2012 Royal Rumble.
As things stand, Sheamus remains under contract with WWE until at least October 1, with no official word on his plans once his current deal expires.
