Shayna Baszler believes Ronda Rousey’s in-ring career may not be over just yet.
Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Shayna Baszler addressed the possibility of Ronda Rousey returning to professional wrestling, despite her stepping away from WWE following her final match against Baszler at SummerSlam 2023. While Rousey has been openly critical of her time in WWE since departing, Baszler suggested that a comeback should not be ruled out.
“I never think Ronda is done,” Baszler said. “She’s a crazy person. I don’t know. She loves being a mom. It would take a bit, but CM Punk came back. Ronda Rousey can come back.”
Rousey initially joined WWE in 2018 and quickly became one of the company’s top stars before stepping away in 2019. She returned in 2022, capturing championship gold once again before exiting the promotion in 2023. Since then, she has made a handful of appearances outside WWE, including work on the independent scene, but has otherwise remained away from full-time competition.
While there has been no indication of an imminent return, Baszler’s comments suggest that the door remains open should Rousey ever decide to step back into the ring.
Why Did Ronda Rousey Retire From Wrestling?
Ronda Rousey wrote in her 2024 autobiography, openly criticising her time in WWE and working with Vince McMahon. She also stated that she retired due to suffering the effects of numerous concussions that she suffered during her time as an MMA fighter.
Despite retiring in August 2023, she returned in October of the same year to compete for the independent promotion Lucha VaVoom and then REVOLVER and ROH in November. She announced her second retirement from wrestling in September this year.
