Seth Rollins is now confirmed to face Gunther at WrestleMania 42 following a show-long storyline involving Adam Pearce and Paul Heyman.
Throughout the night, Adam Pearce repeatedly attempted to get Paul Heyman to acknowledge an email he had sent, but Heyman dismissed the requests and instead headed to the ring to address Seth Rollins. Pearce interrupted the segment, revealing that all charges against Rollins had been dropped and that he had been medically cleared to compete.
That announcement immediately brought Rollins out, with the former leader of The Vision attacking Heyman from behind with a steel chair. Rollins looked set to deliver further damage, positioning Heyman for a Curb Stomp, before the situation took another turn.
Gunther Returned On WWE Raw To Setup WrestleMania 42 Match Against Seth Rollins
Gunther made his return after several weeks away from television, pulling Seth Rollins out of the ring and dragging him to the announce area. He then locked in a rear-naked choke, putting Rollins to sleep before pointing directly at the WrestleMania sign, making his intentions clear.
Later in the night, Jackie Redmond caught up with Pearce backstage to get an update on Rollins. Pearce confirmed that despite the attack, Rollins remained medically cleared and would have the opportunity to respond at WrestleMania.
The rivalry builds on recent weeks of tension between Rollins and Heyman. Rollins returned at Elimination Chamber, targeting Heyman and briefly taking him out with a chair attack and stomp. On last week’s Raw, Heyman attempted to keep his distance, revealing he had filed a restraining order, only for Rollins to be removed from the arena by security.
