Seth Rollins praised Chad Gable after his latest Intercontinental Championship defence, calling his development into one of wrestling’s best performers “an absolute treat.”
Chad Gable successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship against Dragon Lee on the September 14 episode of WWE Raw from Mexico City. Following the match, Seth Rollins took to his Instagram Stories to offer his thoughts on the reigning champion.
“Watching Gable grow into one of the best wrestlers has been an absolute treat,” Rollins wrote.
Gable and Lee competed for more than 15 minutes before the champion secured the victory with the Ankle Lock. Lee came close to capturing the championship on several occasions, hitting Operation Dragon twice and a Styles Clash, but couldn’t put Gable away.
Following the match, Gable stopped the referee from handing him the Intercontinental Championship and instead checked on Lee. He then raised his challenger’s arm before the pair shook hands and embraced.
Seth Rollins Praises Chad Gable’s Rise In WWE
The victory marked Chad Gable’s second successful defence since defeating Penta for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam on August 2. Gable previously retained the title against Rey Mysterio on the August 17 episode of Raw.
The Mexico City appearance was also Gable’s first match in the country since losing the El Grande Americano mask, a character he had portrayed since March 2025. Gable represented the United States in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2012 Olympic Games before signing with WWE. He later reached the main roster alongside Jason Jordan as American Alpha before being repackaged as Shorty G in 2019.
After dropping the Shorty G character, Gable rebuilt his career through Alpha Academy before eventually adopting the El Grande Americano identity. Now 40, Gable has emerged from those reinventions as Intercontinental Champion, with Seth Rollins believing he has become one of the best wrestlers in the business.
