Former WWE star Ryback has opened up about his past issues with Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk.
Ryback has addressed his longstanding issues with CM Punk, insisting he no longer holds any hatred towards the current Undisputed WWE Champion despite their highly publicised history. Tension between the former WWE stars dates back more than a decade, with Punk famously discussing his experiences working with Ryback during his appearance on the Art of Wrestling podcast following his initial WWE departure.
Ryback has responded to Punk’s comments on numerous occasions over the years. However, speaking recently on social media, the former Intercontinental Champion said he has moved on from their past problems.
“CM Punk. Is there any bad blood? No, I don’t hold onto any hate with that man. I’ve said what I needed to say on it. He said what he said on it, and it doesn’t make sense to hold onto that forever. That doesn’t mean we’ll ever be friends or work together. It doesn’t serve me to hold onto that hate or that anger.”
Ryback maintained that he stands by what he has previously said about their history but no longer sees any benefit in continuing the dispute.
“I’ve told the truth from the beginning on it. A lot of people love and support me on it. It doesn’t matter what people think. It’s all over with. People will rehash the past. It doesn’t serve me or benefit me, so I’m happy for him on everything. I’m happy he’s back.”
Punk returned to WWE in November 2023 following nearly a decade away from the company and has since returned to the top of the card. He is currently in his first reign as Undisputed WWE Champion.
Ryback Praised CM Punk, Stating He “Looks Great”
Ryback also praised CM Punk’s current physical condition, saying he believes his former colleague has got himself into the best shape of his career.
“I’ve learned in life it’s better to be happy for people or stay neutral on it because that controls our feelings. You’re choosing to get angry over something, right? So why am I? I’m happy for him. I think he (Punk) looks great, and I’m happy for him. He’s gotten in better shape. I’ve found in life, and you’ll hear me repeat this all the time, happiness is a choice, and hating is a choice.”
Although Ryback acknowledged that he and Punk may never become friends or work together again, he made clear that he no longer intends to hold onto their past animosity.
