Rusev has opened up about how much longer he expects to continue wrestling, revealing that he already has a timeline in mind for a major career decision.
The WWE star recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet on Insight and discussed a range of topics, including his past storylines, his early life in Bulgaria, and his time working with Dusty Rhodes in NXT. During the conversation, Rusev was asked about retirement, especially in light of several high-profile departures from the ring in recent years. The 40-year-old explained that he plans to reassess his future when he turns 45.
“I said 45 and then reevaluate the body, see how it feels,” Rusev said. “But so far, I feel great. I haven’t felt that good in a long time, because it’s not like you have matches every day. So the body is way more protected.”
What Does Rusev Attribute To His Improved Conditioning?
Rusev credited a lighter WWE schedule and a smarter approach to training for his improved condition.
“I take care of my body a lot more. I do a lot of stretching and massages. I eat a lot better. I train a lot smarter,” he said. “So I just take care of my body, and I know that the body’s going to take care of me.”
