Rusev is refuting rumours that he refused to lose in AEW.
Speaking to SHAK Wrestling, Rusev pointed the finger at ONE person, without naming them for those rumors.
“There’s a lot of rumors out there but the problem is those rumors are spread by one person, by these dirt sheets and they have no evidence, no proof. They just can go out there run a story and nothing can be traced back to them,” he said.
Rusev submitted his AEW resume as evidence he was willing to play ball with AEW management, talent.
“Clearly when I lost to Sammy Guevara that didn’t make any sense and when I lost to Daniel Bryan right after that, that didn’t make any sense. So, let the people go back and review whatever I’ve done and we talk about that but losing now, it’s just part of the business, not everybody just wins every week,” he said.
Rusev detailed that because he wasn’t used by AEW during he had “ring rust” when he shifted back to WWE.
“I had only one match, one match in one year…so there was a little rust there….You can see that dust being off and you can see that title around my waist because this is my title…Rusev is going to fix that problem by taking away that title,” he said vowing to take away the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio.
During his five years with AEW, Rusev as Miro participated in approximately 36 matches. In his final match, he defeated Andrade El Idolo at AEW Worlds End in 2023.
Tomorrow night on Raw, Rusev will battle Damian Priest in the first round of the Last Time is Now Tournament. The winner of the overall tournament will face John Cena in his final match.
