Ronda Rousey’s AEW future remains uncertain following her recent surprise appearance, with no confirmed plans currently in place for her return.
The former UFC champion made an unexpected appearance at AEW Revolution on March 15, where she confronted Toni Storm and teased a potential match. However, developments in the following episode of Dynamite have cast doubt over those plans, after Storm was written off television.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Ronda Rousey is not under contract with AEW, and there has been no confirmation regarding additional appearances.
“When we asked AEW sources about Ronda Rousey’s status, nobody told us she was signed by the company,” the report noted. “AEW hasn’t confirmed if she’s planned for additional appearances, but we’re told they’re open to it. A lot creatively changed for the immediate future with Toni Storm’s injury.”
The report added that AEW currently has no creative plans in place for Storm’s return, with her absence expected to be indefinite. Storm’s injury has significantly altered the direction of the women’s division in the short term, leaving the teased programme with Rousey without a clear path forward.
AEW Are Open To Working With Ronda Rousey Again
While AEW is said to be open to further involvement from Ronda Rousey, the lack of a confirmed storyline and Storm’s uncertain timeline suggest that any continuation of the angle may be on hold. Rousey is also scheduled to fight Gina Carano in May, which could further influence her availability and next steps in professional wrestling.
