The surprise appearance by Ronda Rousey at AEW Revolution reportedly caught most of WWE off guard.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, only a small number of people within WWE were aware that Ronda Rousey was scheduled to appear at the pay-per-view. The report states that the plan was kept tightly under wraps ahead of the show, leaving the majority of WWE personnel surprised when the former WWE star showed up.
Rousey appeared during the March 15 edition of AEW Revolution at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California. The moment came after Toni Storm defeated Marina Shafir in singles competition.
Following the match, Rousey entered the ring and confronted Storm before security rushed in to keep the two apart. Shafir then attacked Storm from behind during the chaos before leaving the ring with Rousey through the crowd as the audience responded with loud boos.
The appearance marked Rousey’s first televised involvement in professional wrestling since leaving WWE in 2023. After her departure, she competed in several independent matches and also appeared in Ring of Honor, where she teamed with Shafir. Her last match prior to the AEW Revolution appearance took place in November 2023.
Ronda Rousey’s Return To MMA
Outside of wrestling, Ronda Rousey is scheduled to return to mixed martial arts in May 2026 when she faces Gina Carano under Most Valuable Promotions, the promotion founded by Jake Paul. The fight will stream on Netflix and will mark her first MMA bout since her loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207 in December 2016.
Rousey originally debuted in WWE at WrestleMania 34 in 2018, teaming with Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. During her run with the company, she held both the Raw Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship before departing in 2023.
AEW has not announced whether Rousey will make additional appearances for the promotion following her Revolution cameo.
