Roman Reigns is once again a world champion after defeating CM Punk in the main event of WrestleMania 42 Night Two.
Roman Reigns captured the World Heavyweight Championship with a spear after a hard-fought match that stretched beyond 30 minutes, marking his first singles bout since October 2025 and his first match since January’s Royal Rumble.
The closing moments saw both men exhausted, trading finishing attempts before Reigns capitalised with the decisive spear to secure the pinfall.
The match was fought largely as a physical brawl, spilling to the outside with multiple high-impact spots, including a powerbomb through the announce table and a top-rope elbow onto the desk. Punk was also busted open during the contest after being driven into the steel steps.
There was no outside interference, despite recent tension involving other figures in the build-up, keeping the focus squarely on the two competitors.
Roman Reigns Ends CM Punk’s Over 100 Day World Title Reign
For CM Punk, it marked his first WrestleMania main event and the end of his latest title reign after 170 days and four successful defences. Roman Reigns, whose historic 1,300-plus day Undisputed WWE Title reign ended on night two of WrestleMania 40, now returns to the top of WWE once again.
