Rob Van Dam isn’t expecting another major run with a wrestling promotion, though the WWE Hall of Famer still plans to compete several more times before the end of 2026.
On his podcast, Rob Van Dam discussed his current wrestling schedule and said he isn’t waiting for an opportunity from WWE, AEW, or another major company.
“Thank goodness that I don’t have anything because I don’t think anything’s coming my way. You know what I mean? I don’t expect it to,” Van Dam said.
The 55-year-old remains comfortable with wrestling on a limited basis and expects to have another three or four matches before the end of the year.
“I very likely might have three, maybe four matches between now and the end of the year, going at the speed that I’m going now. I’m okay with that,” he said. “Am I expecting a run to come along, like with one of the companies? No. Is it possible? Yes.”
Rob Van Dam Not Setting Goals For Another Title Run
Rob Van Dam explained that he no longer sets specific goals around winning championships, believing it could leave him disappointed if those opportunities never materialise.
“If I was like obsessed with, ‘I gotta be a tag team champion again,’ whatever my goal would be, if that’s something I got to do, I think I would be disappointed because I don’t think that’s probably going to happen,” Van Dam said. “It could, but I don’t expect it to, and I just live in the now.”
Van Dam recently returned from a lengthy absence after breaking both heels at MLW Battle Riot VII. He spent close to a year on the sidelines before returning to the ring in Australia in February. He later competed for Juggalo Championship Wrestling at Strangle-Mania on April 17.
Van Dam has also made several appearances for AEW in recent years. His most recent came during an April 2024 Rampage taping, where he defeated Isiah Kassidy, Komander and Lee Johnson in a four-way match. The former WWE Champion has wrestled on six AEW shows, including matches against Jack Perry and Swerve Strickland.
