Ric Flair has criticised Charlotte Flair’s performance at WrestleMania 42, stating he believes it is time for her to move back into singles competition.
Speaking in a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ric Flair reacted to Charlotte’s appearance in the Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal Four-Way, where she teamed with Alexa Bliss but fell short against Brie Bella and returning Paige.
“I didn’t like her match at all,” Flair said. “Ashley needs to be a singles wrestler… if she’s not in the title picture, it just doesn’t feel the same.”
Flair acknowledged Charlotte’s current partnership with Bliss but made it clear he sees her as a main-event level singles competitor, particularly when positioned in championship programmes.
Ric Flair Praised Charlotte Flair’s WrestleMania 39 Match Against Rhea Ripley
Ric Flair also pointed to Charlotte’s past rivalry with Rhea Ripley as an example of where she thrives, praising their previous WrestleMania matches, highlighting their WrestleMania 39 bout that was well-received by fans and critics.
“The match she had with Rhea Ripley… they’ve never had a match like that in the history of women’s wrestling,” Flair added, while also crediting Ripley’s current run.
Following WrestleMania 42, Charlotte’s next direction remains unclear, but a return to singles competition appears likely. Ripley is currently WWE Women’s Champion after defeating Jade Cargill, and her history with Charlotte, including a split record at WrestleMania, leaves the door open for a potential rematch down the line.
