Ric Flair can’t say enough good things about Tony Khan.
Ric Flair joined AEW back in 2023 as the promotion was building up to Sting’s retirement. The WWE Hall of Famer signed a multi-year deal with the company, which also included his Wooooo! Energy drink becoming the “exclusive energy drink of AEW.”
Since then, he has appeared multiple times in the promotion, although his recently scheduled appearance at Blood & Guts on November 12th was called off after The Nature Boy had to leave early due to pain from a recent injury.
During a recent appearance interview for Casino Beats, Flair noted that he was feeling better after pulling out of the event, adding that he thinks AEW President Tony Khan is a “really great guy.”
I’m better, I’m doing fine. I’ll probably have to have something done with it, but I have a long weekend ahead of me with two appearances. One in California and one in Chicago. And then next week, I’ll figure out when I have time to go down there and get it looked at. Tony Khan is a really great guy. The guys over in AEW are great. Wrestling is in a good place right now.
Continuing, the 16-time World Champion said he believes Khan cares about everybody in AEW, adding that he’s a “total gentleman.”
“I can’t say enough good things about him. He is fantastic, and he is just a total gentleman, and I think he legitimately cares about everybody. They’re not just a number to him. I think he legitimately cares about everybody that works for him.”
Ric Flair Believes It Would Be Very Difficult For AEW To Overtake WWE
When asked to compare working Tony Khan and his time in WWE under Vince McMahon, Ric Flair instead spoke about the differences between the two companies, admitting it would be difficult for AEW to ever overtake WWE.
“The difference between the two products at the minute is not just the technology, but it’s time as well. WWE/WWF has been around forever, and it’d be very difficult to overtake them.
“They have so much momentum, and now they have this new deal with ESPN. “
However, while they are unlikely to surpass WWE, Flair thinks that AEW’s continued success is good for the wrestling business as a whole.
“But I think it’s great for the business and for the guys that have an opportunity to work in other places as well.”
While he is still under contract with AEW, it is unknown when Ric Flair will next make an appearance for the promotion.
