Rhea Ripley and Jade Cargill collided in a chaotic WrestleMania 42 showdown that ultimately reshaped the women’s title picture.
At WrestleMania 42, Rhea Ripley regained the top prize on night two, defeating Jade Cargill to become the new WWE Women’s Champion following outside interference and a decisive late counter.
Cargill entered the match with the backing of her newly formed alliance alongside Michin and B-Fab, a group that had emerged in the weeks leading up to the event. That advantage quickly became a factor, with both allies attempting to influence the outcome as the match progressed.
Their involvement was eventually neutralised by Iyo Sky, who arrived to even the odds. Sky took out both Michin and B-Fab with a moonsault at ringside, removing the interference and allowing the match to reach its closing stages without further disruption.
With the situation under control, Ripley capitalised. She delivered a headbutt and set up for Riptide, though Cargill briefly fought back, escaping and landing a kick before attempting Jaded. Ripley countered the move, regained control, and connected with Riptide to secure the victory.
Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky Celebrated After Ripley’s WrestleMania 42 Win
After the match, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky celebrated together in the ring, with Ripley acknowledging her tag team partner’s support in ensuring a fair outcome. The result also signals a shift between brands, with Ripley, who had been competing on Raw, now moving to SmackDown as the brand’s reigning champion.
At 29, Ripley continues to build an extensive WrestleMania resume, adding Cargill to a list of high-profile victories that includes Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Asuka. Ahead of the event, Nick Khan praised Ripley’s standing within the company, stating that she is expected to be one of WWE’s leading figures for years to come.
