WWE star Rey Fenix says a reunion with his brother Penta, the Lucha Brothers, will happen eventually, but patience will be key.
Rey Fenix arrived in WWE in March 2025, shortly after Penta debuted on the main roster. The two brothers were placed on separate brands, with Penta joining Raw and Fenix competing on SmackDown.
Since arriving in WWE, Penta has already captured his first championship, defeating Dominik Mysteriolast week to win the Intercontinental Title on Raw. Fenix has also pursued gold, challenging for the United States Championship on several occasions, but has yet to secure his first title in the company.
Before joining WWE, the brothers built a reputation as one of the most accomplished tag teams in the world, competing together across promotions as the Lucha Brothers.
In a recent interview with RRBG Inc., Fenix addressed the possibility of the team eventually reuniting in WWE, while explaining that he has enjoyed the chance to showcase himself as a singles competitor.
“I see it this way. It’s not bad. Obviously I miss fighting with my brother, but it’s a good opportunity to show who we are individually,” Fenix said.
Fenix noted that his singles run has allowed him to face a variety of opponents and demonstrate a different side of his in-ring abilities.
“I’ve worked with Je’Von Evans, I’ve worked with Andrade when he was there, I’m working with Sami Zayn, I’ve worked with Rey (Mysterio) at recent AAA events,” he said. “I think it’s a good opportunity for us as wrestlers and for the public to see something different.”
When Does Rey Fenix Think The Lucha Brothers Will Reunite In WWE?
While fans continue to speculate about a reunion, Rey Fenix believes the timing will ultimately determine when the Lucha Brothers return as a team.
“And believe me, they know that people are waiting for the Lucha Brothers, and the Lucha Brothers are waiting for the moment,” Fenix said. “But something that wrestling and this sport have taught me is patience. It’s going to be the right moment that the Lucha Brothers deserve. It’s not that we don’t deserve it and you don’t deserve to see the Lucha Brothers today, but I know that when the moment gets there, it’s going to be the right moment.”
A reunion nearly happened in late 2025 when the brothers were scheduled to team together at AAA Guerra de Titanes against Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano. However, a shoulder injury suffered by Penta forced him out of the match, with Rey Mysterio stepping in as a replacement.
