A report by PostWrestling.com states that Tony Khan submitted a bid and tried to buy WWE in 2023.
Brandon Thurston reports that under the company Base 10, Khan submitted a bid of $6.9 billion which just wasn’t on the level of the others namely:
- Endeavor: $8.5 billion.
- Liberty Media: $8.5–$8.9 billion.
- KKR: 8–$8.7 billion.
Liberty Media is an American media and entertainment company known for owning and investing in major sports and entertainment assets. Liberty owns:
Formula One – Liberty Media owns Formula 1, one of the world’s biggest racing championships
Major League Baseball (Atlanta Braves) – owns the Atlanta Braves
Sirius XM – significant stake in this satellite radio provider
Live Nation stake (historically) – ties to live entertainment and concerts
KKR is a private equity and investment firm whose most famous deal was the takeover of RJR Nabisco.
The information comes out of the ongoing shareholder lawsuit against TKO which alleges that the merger was a sham as Endeavor and Vince McMahon already agreed to a deal behind closed doors. It is an allegation that TKO denies.
