After weeks of speculation, WWE finally revealed what was inside the mysterious crate at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, culminating in the debut of Danhausen.
The storyline had generated considerable online discussion as fans attempted to guess what the company was building toward. When the crate was finally opened, however, many of those predictions proved incorrect as the former AEW star made his surprise arrival in WWE.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that CM Punk played a significant role in the decision to bring Danhausen into the company.
“CM Punk spearheaded the idea of bringing Danhausen to WWE,” Meltzer wrote.
Danhausen In WWE Since Elimination Chamber Debut
While the debut itself did not receive the reaction from the Chicago crowd that WWE may have hoped for, Danhausen’s first major segment on the March 2 episode of WWE Raw generated a stronger response.
During the appearance, Danhausen delivered his first on-screen “curse” in WWE by cursing Dominik Mysterio, who coincidentally lost his Intercontinental Title later that night to Penta.
The character has also quickly made an impact outside the ring. Reports indicate that Danhausen’s early merchandise sales have been strong, suggesting that the debut may already be paying dividends for the company.
