Colin Cassady. Big Cass. Big Bill. W. Morrissey. Whatever you would like to call him William Morrissey is returning to where you “can’t teach that”.
Fightful Wrestling is reporting that Big Cass is leaving AEW and resigning with WWE. He also could be bringing Enzo Amore with him.
William Morrissey was released from WWE back in 2018. Unprofessional behavior and alcohol addiction played a part in his release.
“If I’m going to be honest with you I made a lot of mistakes. I made a lot of mistakes in a very short period of time. I did some things that I shouldn’t have done. I guess the company couldn’t rely on me and couldn’t trust me. Look, I’ll just be honest with you, in my opinion, they made the right decision for them. It was the right decision to get rid of me at that point in time – not to say I won’t be back – but at that point in time they definitely made the right decision for them. To be honest with you, looking at it they made the right decision for me. Everyone makes mistakes, but when you make that many mistakes in that short of a period of time then you lose people’s trust and you’re not reliable anymore,” Morrissey said on Heated Conversations with Booker T podcast.
He admitted he would have shown himself the door for what he did.
“Yeah, I would have, [fired myself]. I definitely would have fired myself. If I was in Vince McMahon’s position I would have fired myself for sure, one-hundred percent,” he concluded.
Morrissey was picked up by Impact in 2021 and that paved his way to AEW.
In AEW, he won the AEW World Tag Team Championship one time with partner Ricky Starks. He has since floated around as part of The Learning Tree stable and as part of the Paid In Full tag team with Bryan Keith. While in AEW he also married Lexy Nair, an AEW backstage correspondent and stepdaughter of Diamond Dallas Page.
On an episode of AEW Unrestricted, Morrissey spoke about how DDP helped him obtain sobriety.
“He is the one that pushed me in the direction of being open about it. It’s something that you want to hide, especially in sports or wrestling. It’s very ‘alpha’ mentality, you have to be tough. Those are things you don’t want to admit to anybody, especially to your peers and the public. I don’t think that’s very healthy. I understand the mindset because I was in it; to kind of keep that stuff to yourself but it’s extremely unhealthy to do that. It’s always best to speak up. Dallas told me to maybe tell my story, because even if it helps just one person… Why did I go through all this suffering or there to be no one to benefit? He’s helped so many, so many people. He continues to help people. There’s a lot of people that you don’t see that he’s constantly helping. Guy’s doing the lord’s work, as some people say. He’s been a big part of my journey and obviously, I met [fiancee] Lexy [Nair] through him. So that’s a huge positive, too,” he said.
