Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer is claiming that there are a number of AEW talent who won’t be with the company within a year.
Alvarez says that Tony Khan doesn’t like to just simply release wrestlers like all other wrestling companies do.
“Tony Khan doesn’t like to play the bad guy so he doesn’t like to cut people. He just pays them to do nothing for months and months on end,” he said.
Alvarez believes that a slew of AEW talent will just see their contracts expire with no reason given.
“I’ve been given the impression that there are a lot of AEW contracts he’s not going cut but they are just going to quietly expire, probably like a lot of people,” he said. “There’s going to come a time, maybe in six months, a year, or 18 months down the road, where there’s going to be a lot of people available.”
The belief is that many will hit the indies or perhaps even try to negotiate with WWE or perhaps TNA.
