Randy Orton’s latest appearance on WWE Raw has added further intrigue to his recent actions, offering few answers while deepening the mystery surrounding his heel turn.
Randy Orton appeared via satellite from an undisclosed location and declined a scheduled interview with Michael Cole, instead delivering a brief but deliberate message. Before addressing Cole, Orton was seen on the phone with an unidentified individual, telling them that “everyone is watching SmackDown,” that “it is time,” and that he would “see him soon” before ending the call.
Speaking only briefly, Orton addressed the attack on Cody Rhodes during their WrestleMania 42 contract signing on SmackDown. He stated that many had questioned his actions, but revealed he had recently spoken with someone “who had a brain,” describing the conversation as “profound” and clarifying his identity.
“I am a killer,” Orton said.
Orton concluded by stating that “wrestling has more than one royal family” before confirming he will appear on SmackDown this Friday. His remote appearance, rather than being present in the arena, reinforced the calculated shift in his character.
Who Was Randy Orton Speaking To On Raw?
The identity of the individual Randy Orton spoke to remains unknown. His reference to “more than one royal family” may point towards his own lineage, with Orton a third-generation wrestler following in the footsteps of his father, Bob Orton Jr., and grandfather, Bob Orton Sr. The remark has led to speculation that his father could be influencing his recent change in attitude, though this has not been confirmed.
Orton’s turn came on the March 13 episode of SmackDown during the contract signing for his Undisputed WWE Championship match against Rhodes. After Rhodes spoke about their friendship, Orton attacked him with a chair, leaving him bloodied, before sitting in the ring with the championship.
WWE has since confirmed that Rhodes will defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Orton in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 42 on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Orton earned the opportunity by winning the Elimination Chamber match in February, while Rhodes captured the title from Drew McIntyre on SmackDown to enter WrestleMania as champion.
