R-Truth has looked back on the love he received in 2025 when it appeared that WWE would not be renewing his contract.
On June 1st, 2025, R-Truth announced that he had been let go from WWE after 17 years with the promotion. After an outpouring of support from fans and wrestlers, the decision was reversed, and Truth returned less than a week later at Money in the Bank.
During a new interview with WittyWhittier, the star said it was difficult to put into words the support he received.
“You can find no dictionary that could come up with the words that could express how that feels, and it goes back to your question when you said there are people that may be coming to these shows in Ottawa and London that have never been to a show, and that’s a good example of what you get to experience. It’s the loyalty. It’s the love. It’s the commitment.”
R-Truth Reveals His Son’s Heartwarming Response To Fan Support
Truth said the best way to sum it up came from his son, who told him that it showed “it was worth it.”
“That many, over 100 million people reacting, agreeing on one thing, coming together, just, ‘we riot.’ It was just so overwhelming, man, and it was like, I’ve never felt love like that before in my life. You know what I’m saying? I’m 54 years old, man, and I always sum it up with one thing my son said to me in the back, you know, when everything happened, and we looked and he saw all the numbers, man. He’s like, ‘dad, it was worth it.’
“Just those words, man, it’s like, I’ve missed so many graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, deaths in my family, I’ve missed so much, but I’ve dedicated so much. That type of outpour, man, just the abundance of love that I was shown, man, would never, ever go unnoticed by me, and it just, when you say the people’s champ, that gave me that title right there and there, and I love the people for that.”
Since renewing his deal, R-Truth has formed a partnership with Damian Priest on SmackDown, and in March, the pair defeated The MFTs to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. Truth is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury, and has not competed since he and Priest successfully defended the gold against Fraxiom on May 1st.
