Powerhouse Hobbs is believed to have signed with WWE following his recent departure from AEW, according to a new report.
Fightful Select reported that sources close to Sean Ross Sapp have indicated that people within WWE believe Hobbs has agreed to terms with the company. At the time of the report, there was no official confirmation from either WWE or Powerhouse Hobbs himself, and it was noted that Hobbs had not yet been seen backstage at any WWE events.
Speculation surrounding Hobbs’ future intensified after he and his partners dropped the AEW World Trios Championships at Collision Maximum Carnage. WWE has reportedly shown interest in Hobbs for several years, and sources indicate that the company has been making a renewed push to sign him in recent weeks. At the same time, Hobbs was also said to be in contract negotiations with AEW before ultimately finishing up with the promotion.
While there is no confirmation of when Hobbs may appear on WWE programming, Fightful noted that he is expected to be present during Royal Rumble weekend, though specific creative plans could not be confirmed. Whether that presence will translate into an on-screen debut remains unclear.
The Royal Rumble takes place on January 31, 2026, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. If Hobbs has indeed signed, his arrival would add another physically imposing name to WWE’s roster as the company heads into WrestleMania season.
How Long Was Powerhouse Hobbs With AEW?
Powerhouse Hobbs was with AEW for close to six years, after debuting for the company in July 2020 on the company’s YouTube show Dark as Will Hobbs. Hobbs was given a contract after his performance in the 21-man Casino Battle Royal at All Out that year impressed AEW President Tony Khan.
Hobbs went on to hold the TNT and World Trios Titles in the company and became recognised as one of the company’s top heavyweight stars.
