Paul Wight has named John Cena as the toughest wrestler he has ever worked with, praising the WWE star’s remarkable ability to battle through injuries.
Speaking during a game of “Ringmates” with Sky Sports, the AEW star was asked to hand out a series of wrestling superlatives. When asked who was the toughest competitor he had shared a locker room with, Paul Wight immediately chose John Cena.
“John Cena had neck surgery at 7am, and at three o’clock in the afternoon, he came by the building to say hello to everybody,” Wight said. “He had his neck fused and was walking around in less than seven hours. That’s pretty tough.”
Wight added that he had also seen Cena suffer a serious eye injury before returning to work the following day.
Paul Wight Also Named The Funniest, Best-Dressed, And The Wrestler With The Best Singing Voice He’s Ever Worked With
Elsewhere, Paul Wight named Santino Marella as the funniest wrestler he has worked with, while crediting Batista as the best dressed and Chris Jericho as the best singer, thanks to his work with the band Fozzy.
He also praised several of his former colleagues for their intelligence. Wight described Adam Copeland as incredibly smart with a memory “like a steel trap”, called Billy Gunn far more intelligent than many people realise and labelled Kane, “one of the most brilliant people I’ve ever met.” Wight also named Gunn as the most reliable wrestler he has shared a locker room with.
Some of Wight’s answers turned the spotlight on himself. He jokingly crowned himself the worst-dressed, worst-singer, and worst-dancer, while revealing that Kenny Omega is the best dancer and Austin Gunn is an outstanding cook, saying he had prepared one of the best steaks he has ever eaten.
