During his show today, Pat McAfee responded to the heated comments he has received after blasting Canada during the Elimination Chamber show on Saturday.
At the show, the largely partisan crowd in Toronto booed the American national anthem when it was sung. The angry response was largely due to the tariffs President Trump is planning to levy against the nation as well as the comments he and his staff have made about Canada as a country, belittling is as a nation and in turn its people.
Three times during the Chamber broadcast McAfee criticized the reaction. During one tirade he called Canada a “terrible country”. None of his comments were part of an angle.
McAfee apologized for his behaviour today.
“I understand from Canadians that they have a lot more passion for their country than I could have ever imagined. A lot of terrible things have been said about me and I understand. You booed my country. I called your country ‘terrible’, let’s shake hands,” said McAfee extending his hand.
“You say you didn’t and weren’t booing every citizen of the United States. Well, I didn’t say Canadians were terrible. I said your country was,” he continued saying he is just passionate about his country too and said he was sorry. He extended his hand again and shook an invisible hand back.
