Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery is going ahead. The state attorneys general have reached a settlement with the two entertainment giants.
It is expected that the deal will go through in October.
Part of the deal is that Paramount will produce 30 films per year in theaters and a establishing a news editorial independence board for CNN and CBS News.
The proposed $110–$111 billion acquisition is for Warner Bros. Discovery as a whole, including its assets and liabilities.
In the deal, Paramount would own:
Warner Bros. film studio — including franchises such as DC, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Barbie, etc.
Warner Bros. Television Studios — the TV production business and its library.
HBO and HBO Max — one of the biggest pieces of the deal.
CNN and the broader Warner news operation.
Discovery’s networks — Discovery Channel, TLC, Food Network, HGTV, Animal Planet and others.
TNT Sports and other sports properties.
Warner Bros. Games.
TBS, TNT, truTV, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Turner Classic Movies and other cable networks.
Warner/Discovery’s extensive film and television libraries, consumer products and licensing businesses.
WBD’s international television and streaming operations.
TBS, TNT is where AEW airs their programming at present as well as HBO Max.
UFC currently airs on Paramount+. UFC is owned by TKO Group Holdings, which also owns WWE.
