WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Paige has thanked fans for their support after a social media post sparked widespread backlash online.
The controversy began after this week’s episode of WWE NXT, in which Zaria captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship and celebrated by licking the title belt. Ringside News responded with a post on Twitter criticising wrestlers for licking championship belts. The post included an image of Zaria alongside a second image of Paige.
The image of Paige used originated from private material leaked online several years ago without her consent. The incident had a significant impact on Paige at the time, and she has since spoken publicly about the emotional toll it took.
The post quickly drew condemnation from wrestling fans and social media users, many of whom criticised Ringside News for using the image. The post was later removed, though no public apology was issued.
Instead, the outlet shared an older article concerning the former AEW Women’s World Champion, which led to further criticism from fans online.
