Ozzy Osbourne has revealed that while he was known for wild partying throughout his career, there was one man whose drinking abilities far surpassed his own: WWE Hall of Famer Andre the Giant.
In his posthumously published book Last Rites, Ozzy Osbourne wrote that he could never keep up with Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister, and that Andre was the only other person who left him completely outmatched.
“Lemmy was the one guy I just could not keep up with. I didn’t even wanna try, man. It was a catastrophic level of partying. Actually… there was one other guy I couldn’t keep up with. Andre the Giant… The guy would drink whole jugs of vodka and cranberry — and while he was sitting there, waiting for ‘em to be made, he’d get through a six-pack of beer. The guy was physically incapable of getting drunk.”

Ozzy Osbourne also wrote about how Andre once drank an obscene amount of wine while on a bus travelling towards a venue of wrestling show and was still able to get in the ring and wrestle. Osbourne wrote:
“There’s a story out there that he once drank sixteen bottles of plum wine during a four-hour bus ride, then he got off and did three wrestling matches. Having been out with him a couple of times, I don’t doubt it. Sadly he didn’t live very long. He died of heart failure at forty-six.”
Andre the Giant was the first inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame in a posthumous induction in 1993. Osbourne was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021 as part of the celebrity wing for the role he played in WWE over the years. He appeared as a manager for The British Bulldogs at WrestleMania 2 in 1986, and he and his wife, Sharon Osbourne, were the guest hosts of an episode of Raw in 2009.
