Based on what was reported on the Raw Recap podcast, Oba Femi has indeed lost the championship title opportunity he won last weekend.
Oba Femi defeated Jey Uso in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament at the Night of Champions event last Saturday.
Usually, the King and Queen of the Ring not only wins the title but the choice of which champion they want to wrestle at SummerSlam.
On Raw last night, Femi was about to reveal his choice when Brock Lesnar interrupted and attacked him. Femi then challenged Lesnar to a match at SummerSlam. Lensar countered with a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam. Femi accepted.
Afterwards, GM Adam Peace chatted with Femi backstage. Pearce wanted to confirm what Femi agreed to.
“The title is always going to be there. The championships are not going anywhere. I’ll take that when I want it,” Femi replied.
Pearce asked Femi if he was absolutely sure.
“Yes, I’m sure. It needs to happen. This needs to end and I will be the one to put an end to it,” he replied.
On today’s edition of the Raw Recap podcast hosted by Sam Roberts and Megan Morant the question of whether Femi made a sacrifice to face Lesnar again was made clear.
Roberts insisted that Femi wants so badly to put Lesnar in the review mirror and he knows a championship match is in his future anyways.
“Nobody looks at SummerSlam and goes, ‘Well, this is the one time Oba Femi is ever going to get a championship match,’” said Roberts.
“No one’s looking at this and saying Oba’s blowing it. Oba’s throwing away an opportunity,” Morant agreed.
