When I see that Together…Forever…opening it always looks like to me that the fans are worshiping the WWE symbol. Kinda weird that. NXT begins with Rain bringing the pain.
Lizzy Rain versus Kali Armstrong
Not a big fan of Armstrong. She just seems like “generic strongwoman” or “tank” to me. Armstrong muscles Rain around the ring.
Make it rain! Make it rain!
A springboard back elbow from Rain staggers Armstrong. Armstrong charges at Rain, Rain dodges and Armstrong hits the steel post. A “Holy Diver” drop kicks sends Armstrong flying on the outside.
As Rain leaps for a head butt Armstrong catches her and powerslams her. Armstrong bounces off the ropes but Rain hits the flying head butt. Armstrong avoids Thunder Struck and crushes Rain with her version of the Pounce.
Winner: Kali Armstrong
Armstrong is attacked by Skylar Rae. Who is Skylar Rae again? Officials separate them.
Grayson Waller is using a treadmill backstage. He is planning on running a half-marathon during the show tonight.
Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux wonder what GM Stone’s big announcement about the tag division could be. The BirthRight enters the picture. They want the tag titles and they remind Legacy and DVD what they did to Zilla last week. BirthRight warns them to step aside.
Cruz Montana meets with Stone in his office. EK Prosper enters. He is upset too about what happened last week. It was all his fault. Montana says Prosper will be the face of NXT one day because he holds himself accountable for his mistakes. He shakes hands with Prosper. In come the Vanity Project. They want to know what Stone has in store for the tag team division.
Montana stands up for Stone. Vanity Project mocks him for “asking for title match for the fifth time”. Prosper don’t like that at all. Montana says if they don’t watch it he will “slap fire out of all three” of them. He says Myka is the toughest person in the group.
“I was winning tag titles all around the world when you were sucking on your mother’s…” says Montana.
Montana challenges them to put their titles on the line. Stone loves the idea…so…it is set in stone. Get it?
Our champ is still running on that treadmill.
DarkState versus Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux
Dion Lennox comes out of nowhere in his street clothes. He knocks DVD out of his boots and rolls him back into the ring. Legacy gets knocked off the ring apron and onto the announce table. DVD gets double slammed.
Winners: DarkState
Lexis King is at the announce table mocking Booker.
“That’s your boy, Zilla, right?” he laughs.
BirthRight floods the ring to take over the broadcast.
“We are going to keep putting people in the ground until we get the attention and the titles we deserve. Starting with these two!” says Charlie Dempsey pointing at Legacy and DVD.
They beat them down until Zilla’s music hits. Zilla knocks BirthRight all around until the numbers become too much…but then…Legacy and DVD lend him a hand. BirthRight are driven from the ring.
Our champion is still running in place…well…almost in place on the treadmill.
GM Stone is having a chat with Skylar backstage. Skylar is happy to have Stone’s attention now. Myles Borne interrupts. He is going to the ring to apologize to Tavion Heights.
Zaria is with medical. She is medically cleared but is told to take it easy for a couple of weeks. Izzi Dame approaches. Dame mocks Zaria for being injured by…Thea Hail of all people.
Myles Borne is in the middle of the ring. Heights comes out too. Heights says brothers do fight but Borne crossed the line at Heat Wave. Heights thinks it is ridiculous that Borne wants him to trust him again after what he did.
They both play the blame game. They eventually hug it out…until Borne attacks throwing Heights out of the ring. Borne throws Heights into the LED board around the ringside area. Borne puts Heights’ ankle in a steel chair and stomps on it.
Kendal Grey is at the Evolve Health and Wellness Center. She meets with a doctor. Wren Sinclair is with her. The doc say Grey’s ear injury is affecting her balance. The doc says Grey’s “vertigo can throw off” her “dizziness”
What the hell does that mean? I think she meant “balance” not “dizziness”. Why didn’t someone fix that in editing? Oh, well.
The doctor recommends a sports psychologist for Grey. Why? We have no idea. Is she saying it is all in her head?
EK Prosper and Cruz Montana versus The Vanity Project (NXT Tag Team Champions)
Prosper misses a leap off the top rope and gets drop kicked into Vanity’s corner. Baylor nails him with a running knee strike. Prosper fights back with a Shining Wizard on Ricky Smokes. Baylor breaks up Montana and Prosper waiting to double suplex Smokes off the second rope.
Montana gives Prosper some air so he can nail Smokes out of a corner with a hurricanrana. Baylor breaks up the attempted pin. Montana and Prosper dive onto Baylor and Smokes on the floor but Jackson Drake drops kicks Montana right in the chops. The official throws Drake and Myka from ringside. Smokes puts Prosper in a backslide as Baylor holds Prosper’s legs for the pin.
Winners: The Vanity Project
Saquon Shugars mocks both Tony D’Angelo and Mason Rook while speaking to Emily Agard backstage. Tristan Angels interrupts. He says Shugars doesn’t deserve a title shot because he cannot even dress himself yet. Shugars tells Angels to go home, watch his “telly” and see Shugars win all the gold.
Grayson Waller is still running.
Kelani Jordan says she proved why she is a “standout”. She rips into Wren for trying to steal her spotlight last week. Jordan claims she sets the standard in WWE. Out comes AAA’s La Catalina, the Reina De Reinas Champion, AAA’s top women’s title. She wants to take women’s wrestling to the next level. NXT Women’s North American Champion Zaria stomps out. She is the most dominant champion who unified titles.
They all start argue until Thea Hail comes out. Hail says she can hang with anyone in that ring right now. A massive brawl breaks out with the faces clearing the ring.
Oh, yeah, Grayson is STILL going.
Shiloh Hill is working on his experiments to figure out the secret of NARAKU’s mist by spraying concoctions in his own face.
Emily Agard speaks to GM Stone. He wants to boost up the tag team division. He is bringing back the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with teams from AAA, NXT, Evolve, Raw and Smackdown. The brackets will be released later this week on social media and the tournament starts next week. The Creed Brothers walk into Stone’s office. The Creeds promise to be two-time Dusty Cup winners.
Saquon Shugars versus Tony D’Angelo versus Mason Rook – NXT Championship #1 Contender’s Triple Threat Match
Tony puts Rook in a sleeper from behind. Saquon just leaps on Tony’s back. He puts Tony in a sleeper too. Rook crushes them both into a corner. Rook cross body splashes Tony for a two count. Tony shoves Rook in Saquon who punches him in the face. Saquon flips over both men slamming them to the mat.
Saquon leaps over Tony who goes flying out of the ring. He trips up Rook who falls into the ropes. Saquon drop kicks Tony to the floor. A flying leg drop from the apron onto Rook for a two count.
Tony clotheslines Rook over the top rope. Rook hits a steel chair on the floor. Saquon stomps on Rook who falls on Tony while picking him up. Mason gives Tony a canon ball in a corner. Saquon hits a Tornado DDT on Rook.
Saquon splashes Tony but Tristin Angels pulls the official out of the ring as he is about to make his count. Saquon splashes Angels on the floor. Saquon and Angels brawl on the floor. Tony tries to slam Rook but his back gives out. Rook hits a Blue Thunder Bomb and splashes Tony from the top rope for the win.
Winner: Mason Rook.
Grayson Waller comes running out holding up the NXT Championship.
