Nixon Newell has broken the silence after it was reported on Saturday that she and her tag partner, Miranda Alize, walked out of an AEW Collision TV taping an hour before they were scheduled to compete.
It was reported on Saturday that Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize either walked out or were sent home from a recent Collision TV taping just an hour before they were supposed to be competing in the ring. The reason for their exit was reportedly over a disagreement that they had with the creative direction of their planned match against Anna Jay and Tay Melo.
Newell spoke on a Twitch stream yesterday about the situation, stating that there were no disagreements at all, and instead that she and Alize spoke with their match producer and said that, because their match was only going to be three minutes, the opportunity should go to another team instead. Newell said that the producer agreed, and Newell and Alize were replaced by Hyan and Maya World.
Newell said that after the match was changed, AEW management gave her and Alize the go-ahead to leave.
When Was Nixon Newell Released By WWE?
Nixon Newell, who in her WWE days was known as Tegan Nox, joined WWE in 2017 but was sidelined almost immediately with a torn ACL. She made her debut in 2018 at an NXT house show and began competing in the 2018 Mae Young Classic, but suffered another knee injury in her quarter-final match. She returned in 2019 and would compete until September 2020, when she suffered another torn ACL.
She returned in July 2021 and would be moved to the main roster shortly after her return, but was released in November. She returned in December 2022, re-debuting on SmackDown and feuding with Damage CTRL before being drafted to Raw in 2023. She remained on Raw until the 2024 draft, when she was moved to SmackDown, but was released on November 1 without ever making it back to TV.
