Nikki Bella has provided an update on an apparent injury she suffered on Friday’s episode of SmackDown.
Nikki Bella has confirmed that the ankle injury she suffered on March 27 is only a sprain, and she expects to be medically cleared within 7–10 days. The update comes after concern grew when the WWE Hall of Famer was seen wearing a walking boot in New York City over the weekend, though reports indicated she was “fine”.
The injury occurred during a tag team match on WWE SmackDown, where Nikki and Brie Bella defeated Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. According to reports, Nikki rolled her left ankle during an exchange with Flair and was visibly struggling afterwards.
She did not return to the ring following the match, instead remaining at ringside while medical staff evaluated her condition as a post-match brawl continued inside the ring. Early indications suggested the injury was not serious, which has now been confirmed.
The timing of the injury had raised questions about Nikki’s status for WrestleMania 42, but her expected recovery window places her on track to compete at the April 18 and 19 event. Reports have also backed up the expectation that she will be cleared in time.
Brie & Nikki Bella’s WrestleMania 42 Plans
The Bella Twins are currently scheduled to compete in a fatal four-way match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania, facing champions Nia Jax and Lash Legend, alongside the teams of Flair and Bliss, and Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
Nikki and Brie returned at the Royal Rumble earlier this year and have since confirmed this run will mark their final stint as active competitors under a new two-year WWE agreement.
