Nikki Bella has named a former FIFA Women’s World Cup winner as her dream tag team partner if she ever gets the chance to share a wrestling ring with another professional athlete.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that former United States soccer star Alex Morgan would be her ideal choice.
“I feel like Alex Morgan, and I would have cool vibes,” Nikki Bella said.
Bella pointed to her own background in competitive soccer and suggested that soccer players would adapt naturally to professional wrestling because of their athleticism and footwork.
“I have a soccer background. Soccer players, the way they move, they would catch on to wrestling really quick, how their footwork is.”
When discussing potential opponents from outside wrestling, Bella mentioned WNBA stars Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark.
“I mean, Sophie Cunningham has said she’s wanted to take me on, so I’ll leave it at that,” Bella said. “I’d like to take her and Caitlin Clark on. That’d be fun.”
Bella even joked about how she would handle Clark if the matchup ever became reality.
“Dude, I’ll rack attack the s*** out of Caitlin Clark.”
Nikki Bella Still In Recovery From Injury She Suffered In March
For now, however, Nikki Bella remains focused on recovering from injury. Nikki has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury on the March 27 episode of SmackDown. The injury ultimately required surgery and forced her to withdraw from a scheduled WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match at WrestleMania 42.
Paige stepped in as Bella’s replacement and teamed with Brie Bella to capture the titles on WWE’s biggest stage. Since then, the champions have successfully defended the championships against The Judgment Day and The Irresistible Forces.
Bella has yet to announce when she expects to return to action, though she indicated in late April that her recovery would likely keep her out of the ring for at least six to eight weeks.
