WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella has admitted she is reluctant to continue competing without her sister, Brie Bella, following Brie’s injury at SummerSlam.
Brie Bella suffered a broken right scapula during the six-woman tag team match on Night One of SummerSlam and has since revealed she expects to be sidelined for between three and six months.
In a video posted to The Bella Twins’ YouTube channel, filmed while Brie recovered in hospital, Nikki Bella was asked about continuing her WWE run on her own. She admitted part of her wants to wait until her sister is healthy so they can return together.
“I don’t want to do it alone. A part of me feels like I need to stay back with you and just wait for us to come back in together. It’s already been a one and a one. I don’t want to do this again without you.”
Brie encouraged Nikki not to put her career on hold before jokingly asking her to help by holding her hair. Nikki did not announce any plans regarding her WWE future, and neither she nor WWE has commented on whether she will remain active while Brie recovers.
Brie Bella’s Injury Came Shortly After Her WWE Return To Team With Nikki Bella
The injury comes at a significant time for The Bella Twins. Both sisters signed new two-year WWE contracts earlier this year, which they have described as their final deals before retirement. Nikki Bella had only recently returned from a broken ankle suffered in March, with SummerSlam marking her first match in several months.
Brie Bella’s injury has also left an ongoing storyline unresolved. Following their loss alongside Paige at SummerSlam, The Bella Twins turned on their partner in a surprise post-match attack, but the angle has yet to continue following Brie’s injury.
