WWE NXT has confirmed that a new WWE NXT Champion will be crowned in a six-man ladder match on the February 3 edition of the show.
General Manager Ava opened Tuesday’s broadcast surrounded by male members of the roster and announced that qualifying matches will begin next week to determine the entrants for the ladder match. The announcement immediately sparked a mass brawl between the assembled wrestlers.
Among the chaos, one name stood out. EVOLVE’s Keanu Carver bulldozed his way through the field, sending bodies flying into the crowd and putting one competitor through the announce desk before he was left standing alone in the ring.
The title situation was set in motion at New Year’s Evil when Oba Femi retained the NXT Championship. A backstage segment later revealed that Femi had abandoned the title in the ring, with Tony D’Angelo looming nearby. NXT confirmed in the days that followed that the championship had officially been declared vacant.
A new champion will now be crowned when six men climb the ladder on February 3.
How Long Did Oba Femi Hold The WWE NXT Championship?
Oba Femi held the WWE NXT Title in his second reign for just 31 days before vacating the title after he won it back from Ricky Saints at NXT Deadline on December 6, 2025.
Femi’s first reign with the title lasted 263 days, and he won the belt on the January 7, 2025, episode of NXT New Year’s Evil by defeating Eddy Thorpe and Trick Williams in a Triple Threat match.
Femi defended the NXT Title in his first reign ten times, and just two times in his second reign.
