WrestleMania 42 may still be weeks away, but new figures suggest ticket sales are trending in an unexpected direction.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that sales for this year’s two-night event at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas are currently behind last year’s pace, despite a recent attempt to stimulate demand.
Over Valentine’s Day weekend, from February 13 to February 16, WWE temporarily reduced ticket prices across all seating tiers. However, Meltzer noted there appeared to be little to no movement even at the lower price points.
“There has been little new regarding WrestleMania at this point. No new matches have even been hinted at. Ticket sales are actually worse than we had last week,” Meltzer wrote. “Over Valentine’s Day weekend, all seat prices were cut only for the weekend… There appeared to be zero movement at the lower prices.”
What Are The Latest WrestleMania 42 Ticket Sale Stats?
As of the latest update, the April 18 show is reportedly at 35,690 tickets distributed, while the April 19 show is at 36,372. Combined, the two nights are said to be down 17,252 tickets, including comps, which is approximately 19.3 per cent behind last year’s pace.
Current get-in prices are listed at $264 for Saturday and $276 for Sunday. While the raw attendance numbers are trailing compared to WrestleMania 41, the overall gate is still expected to be significant due to premium pricing.
Last year’s WrestleMania 41, held in the same venue, sold 113,412 tickets and generated more than $66 million in revenue. Projections suggest that if sales continue at the current rate, this year’s shows could reach roughly 51,000 fans per night by event weekend.
WWE has yet to formally announce several major matches for WrestleMania 42, which could impact momentum in the weeks ahead.
