A new update has emerged regarding CM Punk‘s WWE status and a possible timetable for his return to television.
CM Punk has been absent from WWE programming since the Raw after WrestleMania 42, where he shared a segment with Cody Rhodes. His absence has fuelled widespread speculation in recent weeks, including unverified rumours suggesting he had asked for his release from the company.
Those claims have since been disputed by multiple reports, and the latest update indicates Punk could be back on WWE television sooner rather than later.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, one source believes that “signs point” to Punk returning on or before the July 6 edition of Raw. The show is scheduled to take place at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, just outside of Punk’s hometown of Chicago.
While no return date has been officially confirmed, the report noted that WWE is expected to bring Punk back in the near future.
CM Punk Expected To Play A Significant Role At SummerSlam
The report also stated that CM Punk is currently slated to play a significant role at SummerSlam, further suggesting that plans are in place for his return ahead of WWE’s biggest event of the summer.
Punk has not wrestled since losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
Earlier reports indicated that changes to WWE’s creative plans following WrestleMania may have contributed to Punk’s absence. A report from False Finish last month claimed that roster moves involving Gunther and Jacob Fatu led to storyline adjustments that affected Punk’s planned direction.
Despite the ongoing speculation, recent reports have consistently pushed back on suggestions that Punk’s absence is connected to backstage issues or contract disputes.
