There may finally be some positive news regarding Sheamus‘ long-awaited WWE return.
The former world champion has been sidelined since November 2025 due to a shoulder injury, but a recent social media update has sparked optimism that he could be edging closer to an in-ring comeback.
Sheamus recently shared photos from the WWE Performance Center on Instagram, showing himself back inside a WWE ring alongside training partners. One image also highlighted the rope burn scars on his back, often a sign of intense in-ring training sessions.
He simply captioned the post: “a fun day.”
While the update did not provide a timetable for his return, it does suggest that the 48-year-old is making progress in his recovery and may be approaching the final stages of rehabilitation.
When Did Sheamus Last Wrestle In WWE?
Sheamus last competed on the November 17, 2025, episode of WWE Raw from Madison Square Garden, where he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to defeat Finn Balor, Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh. The match also marked Cena’s final appearance on Raw before his retirement.
Shortly afterwards, WWE announced that the Irish star was not medically cleared due to a shoulder injury, forcing him to withdraw from the Last Time Is Now tournament that was set to determine Cena’s final WWE opponent.
The Celtic Warrior underwent shoulder surgery in December 2025, and many expected him to return ahead of WrestleMania 42. However, that comeback never materialised.
Despite spending more than six months away from WWE television, Sheamus appears to have maintained the impressive physical condition that has defined much of his career. The veteran star has dealt with a number of injury setbacks in recent years, including another shoulder issue that kept him sidelined for a significant period in 2023.
