A new report has offered TNA Wrestling’s perspective on Tommy Dreamer‘s recent departure, disputing the version of events the former Head of Creative shared publicly.
According to False Finish, sources within TNA believe Tommy Dreamer’s comments following his exit do not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding his departure.
The report claims there was growing concern internally over Dreamer’s approach to creative, with sources alleging he had significant influence over which talent received pushes and was reluctant to establish new stars. The same sources also suggested the company’s creative direction had not been producing the desired results, leading to the belief that a change was necessary as TNA continues to expand its reach on AMC.
Those cited in the report expressed optimism that the backstage environment will improve following Dreamer’s exit.
Tommy Dreamer Told A Different Story About His TNA Departure
The claims differ from Tommy Dreamer’s own account of his departure.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio on June 17, Dreamer became emotional while announcing that he and TNA had “mutually agreed to part ways.” He stressed that he held no ill will towards the company and wished everyone involved continued success.
TNA later confirmed Dreamer’s departure in an official statement, describing it as part of a wider workforce reduction.
Dreamer’s exit has prompted considerable discussion within the wrestling industry.
While Fightful Select previously reported that several TNA talents had been critical of Dreamer’s creative direction in recent years, it also noted that he remained well respected by many within the locker room. Following his departure, both Matt Hardy and Nic Nemeth publicly praised Dreamer, commending him for his work as both a producer and a person.
