Either Callum Newman or Yuya Uemura will win this year’s New Japan Cup. Both men moved onto the finals tonight after winning their semi-final matches.
In their match, Yuya Uemura had Boltin Oleg off his game right out of the gate by working over both of Boltin’s arms. Uemura’s arm lock keeps Oleg from slamming him. Uemura runs off the ropes. Oleg catches him and slams him down hard. He gives Uemura the dead lift slam. Uemura lands a flurry of chops to the chest which leads to a side suplex for a two count. Uemura goes right back to the hammer lock. Oleg retaliates with a Stinger Splash in the corner and a splash from the second rope for a two count. Uemura counters with another arm lock.
Uemura and Oleg battle on the top rope. Uemura gives Oleg a hurricanrana all the way down to the mat where Oleg crashes hard. The move takes a lot out of both men. Uemura kicks Oleg in the head staggering the big man. After a number of head butts to soften Oleg up, Uemura hits the Dead Bolt suplex. Two High Cross Body Splashes from the top rope pins Oleg.
Newman began his match against Shota Umino by bailing out of the ring and frustrating him. Finally getting back into the ring, Newman demands that Umino say “Please” first. Umino turned Newman inside out with three shoulder tackles off the ropes. Newman bails from the ring again. Newman takes a powder into the crowd. Umino puts the boots to Newman when he does roll back in. Newman puts an end to that momentum with a trip up and a running knee to the ribs.
Both men trade forearm smashes. Newman lands a forearm, a soccer kick to the back and then just kneels on Umino posing for a two count. Newman soccer kicks Umino’s arm. Umino writhes in pain on the mat as the official checks on him holding Newman back.
Newman targets the arm with kicks, stomps and submissions. On the floor, he wraps it around the ringside barricade. Newman kicks the arm again while standing on the apron. Umino is whipped arm-first into the steel barricades over and over.
Neman takes two tables out from under the ring. Umino reverses a suplex though sending Newman crashing down on the arena floor.
Umino throws and drop kicks Newman into the barricade. Newman is laid over a barricade given a running knee to the head and a DDT to the floor by Umino.
Back in the ring, Newman picks up Umino and powerbombs him over the ropes and through the tables below on the floor. Umino barely beats the count back in.
Newman catches Umino with his Kiss the Crown clothesline and Exacalibur but Umino kicks out. Umino DDTs Newman. Newman pushes Umino off into the official and then punches him in the “lower abdomen”. Kiss the Crown and Umino kicks out. Newman finally pins him with the Prince’s Curse.
The New Japan Cup 2026 finals take place on March 21, 2026.
Whomever wins gets a title shot against IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Yuta Tsuji.
Uemura confronted Newman in the ring after the match. He told Newman that no matter what tactics he uses he will not win the tournament.

Kanemaru takes a swig of his whiskey but Yoh kicks him in the gut. Yoh pins Kanemaru with Everything is Yoh and a Direct Drive.

Unbound Co. (Shingo Takagi, Drilla Moloney, Taiji Ishimori & Daiki Nagai) vs United Empire (Jake Lee, HENARE, Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young)
Akira and Young spike powerslam Young Lion Nagai. Young pins him with his Another One Bites The Dust DDT. Ishimori pummels Akira on the floor. Akira fires back.
Akira: “At Korakuen Hall, I am going to beat the s–t out of you!”.
Jake Lee attacks Drilla and Shingo from behind. Shingo and Lee throw hands all the way back to the locker room.

Aaron Wolf, Toru Yano & Tomoaki Honma vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita, Don Fale & Dick Togo)
As Fale is distracted by the official, Togo strangles Honma from behind. Narita hits his Guillotine finisher.

Jackson pins Gedo with his Jagged Edge finisher. Tsuji and Fujita share some words and chops to the chest. Ice and Oscar joust with ZSJ and Oiwa in the ring.
