New details have emerged on why former NXT General Manager Ava left WWE.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed WWE’s recent departure of Ava on Wrestling Observer Radio, confirming that last Tuesday’s episode of NXT was her final appearance and that she chose not to re-sign with the company.
Meltzer said the decision appeared to be personal rather than driven by any single issue.
“I’ve talked to and heard from several people and the general thing was is just she didn’t want to do it anymore. There was no compelling reason,” Meltzer said. “It was just one of those things where her parents own a studio and they thought that she’s probably going to end up working there. She doesn’t have to do it.”
The discussion also touched on the recent release of Ava’s partner, Tatyanna Dumas, though Meltzer stressed it was unclear whether that played any role in Ava’s decision.
“One person had contacted me and mentioned Tatyanna Dumas, who is her girlfriend, was cut, which we didn’t hear just a couple of weeks ago,” Meltzer said. “They weren’t quite saying that’s why she quit but it was something that people put one and one together that maybe that had something to do with it, maybe it didn’t, I don’t know.”
Alvarez noted that there was no on-screen indication of Ava’s impending exit on the final episode of NXT, despite an ongoing storyline involving Tony D’Angelo.
“It was her decision, it’s not like they were going to get rid of her or anything like that,” Meltzer added.
How Long Was Ava With The WWE?
Ava was with the WWE for six years, joining in 2020 and beginning her training at the WWE Performance Center. She debuted on February 14, 2023, joining Joe Gacy‘s heel Schism faction and made her in-ring debut on April 1 at Stand and Deliver.
She became the on-screen Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels in January 2024, and would later become the NXT General Manager that year.
