New details have emerged surrounding the death of AEW star Pac, who died at the age of 40 just one day after competing at All Out.
As per a Wrestling Observer Daily Update, Pac, real name Benjamin Satterley, was reportedly found unresponsive inside a rental car in the parking lot of a CAVA restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois. The location is across the street from the Allstate Arena and approximately a mile from the airport.
According to the report, people inside the restaurant noticed Satterley unresponsive in the vehicle and contacted authorities. Police, firefighters and an ambulance arrived at approximately 4 p.m. local time on Sunday. Satterley was pronounced dead several minutes later.
An autopsy was performed on Monday, but a cause of death has not yet been determined publicly. Additional testing is required before a cause can be established. The report states that there were no signs of trauma and authorities do not suspect foul play.
AEW To Dedicate Dynamite To Pac
Pac’s death came less than 24 hours after he competed at AEW All Out on Saturday night. He challenged Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at the pay-per-view before later becoming involved in the AEW World Championship main event between Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley.
AEW President Tony Khan addressed Satterley’s death before Monday night’s ROH tapings and became emotional while speaking about him. Khan remembered Satterley as both a great professional wrestler and person, then confirmed that Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite in Pittsburgh will be dedicated to him. Khan also told the roster that anyone who needed time away following Satterley’s death could take it. AEW and ROH talent working this week are doing so voluntarily.
Satterley began wrestling as a teenager before making his professional debut in 2004. The Newcastle upon Tyne native established himself on the British independent scene before gaining international recognition in Dragon Gate. He later competed for WWE before joining AEW’s original roster in 2019. Satterley also wrestled for promotions including CMLL during a career that took him around the world.
