A new champion was crowned on the SummerSlam go-home edition of WWE Raw.
Raquel Rodriguez captured her first singles championship on WWE’s main roster by defeating Sol Ruca to become the new WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion on the July 27 edition of WWE Raw.
The title match lasted just over 10 minutes before outside interference proved decisive. Ruca attempted to hit the Sol Snatcher in the corner, but Roxanne Perez grabbed her arm and pulled her face-first into the ring post while the referee was distracted. Rodriguez, who was left bloodied during the contest, capitalised by delivering the Texana Bomb to secure the victory and win the championship.
Following the match, Rodriguez celebrated with fellow Judgment Day members Liv Morgan and Perez.
Raquel Rodriguez Has Won Her First Main Roster Singles Title On WWE Raw
The title victory marks another milestone in Raquel Rodriguez’s WWE career. After competing on the independent circuit, she signed with WWE in 2016 and spent several years in NXT as Reina Gonzalez and later Raquel Gonzalez. During her time in the brand, she won the NXT Women’s Championship and twice captured the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship alongside Dakota Kai.
Rodriguez joined SmackDown in 2022 under her current ring name. While this is her first singles title on WWE’s main roster, she previously held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship six times, winning the titles with Aliyah, Roxanne Perez and four times with Liv Morgan.
