Naomi has addressed her abrupt departure from WWE in 2022.
At WrestleMania 38, Naomi captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Mercedes Mone – then known as Sasha Banks. However, less than a month later, both women dramatically walked out of the company after handing over their belts ahead of a taping of Raw. At the time, it was reported that the pair walked out due to creative differences over their booking.
On the second episode of WWE: Unreal Season 2, Naomi discussed her departure, explaining that she left because she felt she needed to stand up for herself
“I’m not gonna go much into detail, ’cause I don’t like talking about it. So in 2022, my tag team partner, Sasha Banks, and I at the time were tag team champions.
“There was a lot that happened that day at work that led us to leave. Like, literally walk out. I needed to stand up for myself, and not as Naomi, but as Trinity, and that was the first time in my life, in my career, not employed and not knowing what to do next and where to go next.”
The next stop for Naomi was TNA, where she wrestled as Trinity and reigned as the Knockouts Champion for 182 days, before ultimately returning to WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Naomi Currently On Hiatus From WWE
Naomi has not wrestled since SummerSlam 2025, where she successfully defended the Women’s World Title against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley. This is because, on the August 18th edition of Raw, the star vacated the title and announced that she was pregnant with her and her husband, Jimmy Uso’s, first child.
While she had to let go of the title, Naomi sent a warning to the locker room, saying that she would pick up where she left off when she returns in “nine months and some change.”
