The former WWE world champion, recently teased by Rey Mysterio for a future appearance in AAA, may have been revealed.
During Saturday’s live edition of AAA on Fox, Rey Mysterio hinted that the promotion was close to bringing in a former world champion who had never competed for AAA before. While no name was mentioned during the broadcast, reports from fans who attended the subsequent television taping in Mérida, Yucatán suggest that Damian Priest could be the mystery star.
Photos shared on social media appeared to show the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the ring after the live broadcast, reportedly delivering a promo to the crowd. Full spoilers from the taping have not yet emerged.
Damian Priest’s WWE World Heavyweight Title Run
If Damian Priest is indeed the wrestler Rey Mysterio was referencing, he would fit the description. The Judgment Day member captured the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in 2024 after successfully cashing in his Money in the Bank contract and has never previously wrestled for AAA.
Priest lost the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam on August 3, 2024, to Gunther.
A potential Priest appearance would mark another crossover between WWE and AAA, following the strengthening of their relationship.
Elsewhere on Saturday’s AAA on Fox broadcast, the Perros del Mal faction officially reformed. The new version of the group consists of Karmen Petrovic, Bronco Nima, Angel Garza, Berto, and Daga.
The reunited faction made an immediate impact by attacking El Grande Americano in the show’s closing moments. The assault came shortly after Americano declared that his attention had turned toward Dominik Mysterio and the AAA Mega Championship.
