MVP has strongly denied reports suggesting that The Hurt Syndicate have been unwilling to lose matches or put over other wrestlers in AEW.
The Hurt Syndicate manager took to X on Saturday to address claims about the faction’s attitude toward working with younger talent, calling the reports outright lies. MVP insisted that the group had actively wanted to work with younger wrestlers and even expressed a willingness to lose the AEW World Tag Team Championships to Private Party.
“So I open up Twitter to see lies being reported about The Hurt Syndicate. BLATANT LIES!!! Who is the source of these lies? To the contrary, we wanted to work with younger talent! We wanted to drop the tag titles BACK to Private Party!!! STOP BELIEVING THE BS!”
The comments came after Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp discussed The Hurt Syndicate’s absence from AEW programming during the October 21 episode of The Hump. Sapp claimed there had been instances when members of the group were unwilling to put other wrestlers over, though he did not identify the specific situations.
MVP Responds To Claims About The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW Future
During the programme, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about The Hurt Syndicate’s current whereabouts and whether the faction could return to AEW television.
“That I do not know. Listen, I know there’s been a lot of talk about them like not wanting to put people over. There’s definitely been some situations where they haven’t wanted to. That has been a thing,” Sapp said.
He also suggested fans shouldn’t expect the faction to return to AEW programming in the immediate future.
“I don’t think you’re going to be seeing Hurt Syndicate anytime soon.”
MVP subsequently issued another statement on X, criticising wrestling news outlets for publishing what he described as unsubstantiated rumours.
“Seriously wrestling fans. You guys have to stop believing the click bait BS reported by these idiots at these ‘dirt sheet’ sites. Rumor, gossip with absolutely ZERO facts!!!! Site your sources! Cowards.”
The former WWE United States Champion’s response directly contradicts the suggestion that The Hurt Syndicate have resisted opportunities to elevate other performers. In particular, his claim that the group wanted to drop the AEW World Tag Team Championships back to Private Party indicates that, according to MVP, they were open to helping establish younger talent.
However, neither MVP nor Sapp provided specific details about the alleged creative disagreements, leaving the conflicting accounts unresolved.
